I found photography when I was an aimless college student, studying to become a music teacher. (Spoiler Alert, I never became a teacher!)
I was four years into a college degree I didn’t want to use and thousands in debt. I'd been searching for a next step, a way out of the overwhelm. I was not living my best life.. Not even close.
When I received my first DSLR camera as a Christmas present in 2018, something clicked. It felt like I had finally stumbled upon my true calling. I knew photography was my new path.
So, I chose to forego student teaching and left behind the dreams I once had of shaping young minds through learning rhythms, scales, and solfege. And even though I was seemingly leaving behind stability (and teacher benefits - they get some great health insurance!) I knew running my own wedding photography business was where I needed to be. And that was the start of Ashlyn Meys Photography!
Now, years later, I can proudly say I’ve been a full-time business owner since 2020!! For 5 years I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work alongside amazing couples as they celebrate some of the most important moments in their lives!
Not only do I love what I do and put that passion into my work each and every day, I am absolutely honored to work with you - and that isn’t something I take lightly.

I’m a wife to my wonderful husband, Anthony and a mama to my sweet son, Henry! We share our home with our attention-seeking, plant eating cat, Lisa
I’m an enneagram 2 (The Helper), through and through.
In my freetime you can find me on one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes, either the big one (good ol’ Lake Superior), or up north at the family cabin. I believe every day is a good day for a pontoon ride!
If I weren’t a photographer, I would be running my own gluten free bakery! (Someday, I hope!)
If I’m singing karaoke, you can bet on me picking a song from either Mamma Mia! Or Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again soundtracks. I know those albums better than I know myself. In another life I’d perform as Donna in the musical. (Really, I’m more of a Rosie. IYKYK)
